Aloo Halwa Recipe with step by step photos and video recipe – is a sweet dish prepared from the mix of grated potatoes, ghee, milk, and sugar. An easy dessert recipe for unannounced guests using handy ingredients.

It is a popular and delicious dessert from Uttar Pradesh and is usually made during the festive season of Navratri.

This is a falahari dessert and can be eaten in the days of fasting as well. 

People eat potato mostly during Navratris. They make it in different forms such as fried potatoes or boiled potato. They can make potato Halwa too in the Navratri. It is luscious in taste and you can make in a few minutes too.

Ingredients
  

  • 1.5 cup potato boiled, peeled, and mashed
  • cup sugar
  • ½ cup milk
  • 3 tbsp desi ghee
  • 1 tsp cardamom powder
  • 5-6 almond chopped
  • 5-6 cashewnut chopped

Instructions
 

  • Collect all the required ingredients.
  • In a medium-size frying kadai, pour some ghee and let it heat.
  • Then add the boiled and mashed potatoes.
  • Stir the mashed potato continuously with the help of big spoon for 7-8 minutes.
  • After 3-4 minutes, you will see potatoes begins to gather around itself.
  • Stir potato continuously while roasting otherwise, the potatoes will stick to the pan.
  • Cook on medium heat until potatoes are slightly browned.
  • Now add the sugar, milk, and cardamom powder.
  • Keep stirring and the sugar will start to melt.
  • Keep mixing the halwa until the ghee separates and the halwa thickens.
  • It will take approximately 5-6 minutes.
  • After this add almond and cashew nuts.
  • Mix well.
  • Transfer it to a heat-proof dish and serve it warm.

Notes

  • You can select any dry fruit for mixing as per your likes and dislikes.
  • The more ghee you add the halwa will be tastier …I have used a non-stick wok for this recipe – potatoes can become quite sticky and a non-stick surface works best if you are trying to cut the amount of ghee.

How To Make Aloo Halwa (Step By Step Instructions With Photos) :
