How To Make Chocolate Ice Cream (Step By Step Instructions With Photos):

making chocolate mixture :

1. Collect all the required ingredients.

2. To begin making chocolate mixture, take a deep saucepan, add milk and sugar in it.

3. Now add unsweetened cocoa powder. Use good quality cocoa powder for intense chocolate flavor.

4. Whisk well so that there are no lumps.

5. Keep this pan on stove stop on a low flame and with a whisk or spoon stir continuously till the sugar dissolves.

6. When sauce the mixture comes to a brisk boil, reduce the heat to low and simmer very gently for 5 to 8 minutes, stirring continuously.

7. Whisk it well to blend thoroughly. Keep stirring the mixture while it is on heat and allow the chocolate mixture to thicken gradually.

8. Turn off the flame when it turns thick. The mixture has to coat the back of the spoon when you dip it in the mixture.

9. Transfer the chocolate mixture in a bowl and allow it to become warm or cool down. Let this chocolate mixture cool at room temperature.

10. When it reaches room temperature, keep in the freezer for 40-45 minutes or freeze till almost set.

whipping cream :

1. In another bowl, take about ½ cup heavy whipping cream or 25% to 35% low-fat cream.

2. Now begin to whip the cream on medium to high speed. Do not over whip otherwise you will end up with butter.

3. Check after 1 minute and then again after 30 seconds.

4. Whip till you get stiff peaks. The cream will increase in volume and when you take the whipped cream in a spatula or spoon and turn it down, the cream won’t fall.

1. Now add 1 tsp vanilla essence in it.

2. Then add the chocolate mixture.

3. Now gently and with light hands, fold the chocolate mixture in the whipped cream. Do not mix, but fold it.

4. The cream should not loose its peaks or volume and fall flat. So fold gently and slowly.

5. Smooth and creamy ice cream is ready. Very runny mixture may later form ice crystals.

6. Now transfer the ice cream mixture in a container or box.

7. Level the mixture.

8. Sprinkle some chocochips on top of the ice cream mixture. This step is optional.

9. Place a cling wrap or butter paper so that it touches the cream. This helps prevent ice crystals from forming.

10. Then cover the bowl with a cling wrap.

11. Now you are ready to freeze it. Freeze for 8 to 9 hours or overnight or till the ice cream is set.

12. Before serving, keep the ice cream box or bowl for some minutes at room temperature. Make sure to wet your scooper in hot water before scooping. This helps to scoop ice cream easily.

13. Serve chocolate ice cream in bowls or cups. You can also drizzle some chocolate sauce on the ice cream if you want.
