Ingredients

  • 250 gms khoya/mawa
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp cardamom/elaichi powder
  • 4-5 drops kewra essence
  • 4-5 chopped pistachios for garnishing
  • 3 silver leaf for garnishing
  • 1/2 tsp ghee

Instructions

  • Collect all the required ingredients.
  • In a plate or mixing bowl take khoya. ( Here I have used homemade khoya).
  • Mash it with palms for a minute or till it smoothens.
  • After it smoothens, add powdered sugar, cardamom powder and 4-5 drops kewra essence.
  • Crumble the mawa.
  • Firstly, mix it with a spoon.
  • And then further, grease your hands and knead to a non-sticky dough.
  • Transfer the cashew dough on to the butter paper.
  • Divide the dough into 16 equal lemon sized balls.
  • Take one ball and roll into a long cylinder using your palms.
  • Spread out this roll little thinly with your hands. There should not be any cracks while rolling the mawa ball.
  • Similarly prepare the other rolls as well. (You can serve these rolls as it is also).
  • Garnish these mawa rolls with silver leaf and chopped pistachios.
  • Mawa rolls are ready. Serve this super tempting mawa rolls as a sweet dish.

recipe notes :

  • These mawa rolls can be stored for up to 15 to 20 days in the refrigerator.
  • Increase the quantity of sugar if you have sweet tooth.
  • Adding chopped pistachios and almonds will make the rolls better as the chunks of pistachios will taste good in the bite.
  • Use mawa at room temperature.
  • Make sure that the mawa doesn’t contain too much moisture else it will get difficult to make rolls.
  • Strain the powdered sugar so that big chunks can be separated easily.
  • Instead of butter paper, you can also use the plastic sheet or you can also grease the plate.
