Poha Palak Balls are easy to make snack recipe and you can make it in minutes. For this recipe, I used leftover poha and added some chopped spinach and potatoes for binding. The result came out to be very good and these Poha balls were crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. I added spinach which gave the bite to dish and also because It made the balls healthy and nutritious.

Leftover poha balls are easy to prepare with cooked poha. Adding roasted peanuts increases the taste of leftover poha cutlets. It consumes less oil and is a healthy snack.

Ingredients

  • 2 cup Leftover Poha
  • 4 potatoes boiled & mashed
  • 1/4 cup spinach washed and chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 green chilies chopped
  • 2 tbsp coriander leaves
  • 1 tsp  desi ghee
  • 1 tbsp water

Instructions

  • Collect all the required ingredients.
  • In a mixing bowl, add leftover poha, mashed potatoes, chopped spinach, salt, chopped green chili, and coriander leaves.
  • Mix all ingredients well.
  • Once the mixture for the balls is ready then take out a little mixture from the bowl and bind the mixture.
  • Make a ball from it and then keep them out in a plate.
  • Prepare all the balls like this.
  • Heat appam pan on medium-low flame and then drop approx. 1/8th tsp desi ghee in each section of the appam pan.
  • Place the round balls inside the molds to cook.
  • Cover and let them simmer for 5 minutes on low flame.
  • When the appams get golden brown from beneath, flip the side and cover it and continue cooking until golden brown from this side as well.
  • It can take 5 minutes. Cook the appams until they get golden brown on both the sides.
  • When they are almost cooked, sprinkle some water on the top of the appams.
  • Again cover and cook appams on low flame for 2 minutes.
  • When they are ready, take out the roasted poha palak appams in a plate.
  • Serve these scrumptious and healthy poha palak balls with green coriander chutney, tomato sauce, or any chutney of your choice.

1.  Collect all the required ingredients.

2. In a mixing bowl, add leftover poha, mashed potatoes, chopped spinach, salt, chopped green chili, and coriander leaves.

3. Mix all ingredients well.

4. Once the mixture for the balls is ready then take out a little mixture from the bowl and bind the mixture.

5. Make a ball from it and then keep them out in a plate.

6. Prepare all the balls like this.

13. Again cover and cook appams on low flame for 2 minutes.

14. When they are ready, take out the roasted poha palak appams in a plate.

recipe notes/tips :

  • You can add more chilies if you prefer it spicy.
  • You can skip using spinach if desired. It is optional.
  • You can keep the size of balls big or small as desired.
  • Roast on low flame otherwise the appam balls will burn from outside and remains uncooked from inside.
  • Sprinkling water is necessary so that balls will not remain dry.
