Red Chilli Chutney, a hot and spicy yet delicious chutney prepared from dry red chillies is a must-have condiment to enhances the taste and flavor of many Indian snack items.
Quick and easy though it is, the Chilli Garlic Chutney has a vibrant flavor that makes its presence felt in any recipe.
Just a few ingredients and a few minutes are all it takes to make this dynamic chutney, which combines the fieriness of chillies and the pungency of garlic.
#Serving Suggestion: There are simply many ways in which red chili chutney can be used to transform any dull food into titillating spicy food. E.g. use it as a spicy condiment for dosa, idli or when preparing chaat snacks, just add a small amount of red chili chutney while topping the chaat with other chutneys.

RED CHILLI CHUTNEY RECIPE
Ingredients
- 12-14 dry whole kashmiri red chilies
- 12 garlic cloves
- 1/2 inch ginger
- 1 cup warm water for soaking
- 2-3 tbsp water or as required for grinding
- Salt to taste
- 1 tsp lemon juice
Instructions
- Collect all the required ingredients.
- Break the chilies and deseed them if required. Then soak 12 to 14 Kashmiri red chilies in hot water for about 20 mins. The water just needs to cover them. Keep aside.
- Drain the red chilies and add them in a grinder jar or blender.
- Then add 9 to 10 medium-sized garlic, ginger and salt as per taste.
- Also, 2 to 3 tbsp water or add in little water at a time and make it into a fine puree.
- Grind both the red chilies and garlic in a chutney grinder or blender till smooth. The consistency of the chutney should be more towards the thicker side or of medium consistency.
- Transfer the red chutney in a small bowl .
- Mix lemon juice in it.
- Use it to make delicious chaats like bhel puri, vada pav, sev puri or pav bhaji, etc. and give it a spicy touch.

1.Collect all the required ingredients.

7. Transfer the red chutney in a small bowl .
8. Mix lemon juice in it.
9. Use it to make delicious chaats like bhel puri, vada pav, sev puri or pav bhaji, etc. and give it a spicy touch.
Recipe Notes :
- For even better taste and texture, use mortar and pestle to make this chutney. It will give a coarse texture like no other.
- Instead of whole chillis soaked in warm water. , replace with
chilli powder. - Adding lemon juice reduces the spiciness of chutney.
- Reduce the amount of
chilli powder if you do not prefer spicy chutney. - You can store it in an airtight container in the fridge for at least a week.
