Suji Ka Cheela Recipe

Suji ka cheela recipe with step by step photos and video recipe – easy and tasty breakfast recipe of cheela made with sooji. It is an easy pancake or dosa recipe made using sooji. It tastes so delicious as it is, or with any chutney of your choice.

Suji Ka Cheela if prepared with curd, vegetables and semolina taste more tempting then those prepared with gram flour, flour or dal. You can also pack these delectable sooji cheelas in a lunch box for kids with side accompaniment of tomato ketchup or any other dip; they’ll love them for sure.

Healthy and easy sooji cheela made easily in few mins. This is so easy to make and is great for busy morning. You can even make the batter in advance and make cheela the next day.

#Serving Suggestion:  Serve this suji cheela in the breakfast or with a cup of tea /coffee in the evening. It can also be packed in kid’s lunch box or for a picnic.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup suji/rava
  • 1/2 cup curd
  • 1/4 cup onion finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp capsicum finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp carrot grated
  • 2 green chillies finely chopped
  • 3 tbsp coriander leaves finely chopped
  • 1 tsp ginger paste
  • Salt to taste
  • A pinch of turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp red chilli powder
  • Oil as required for roasting cheela
  • 1/2 cup + 2 tbsp water or as reuired

Instructions
 

preparing batter for suji cheela:

  • Collect all the required ingredients.
  • Take fine suji or rava in a bowl.
  • Add curd and mix well.
  • Then add salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, and ginger paste.
  • Also, add 1/4 cup water.
  • Mix very well.
  • Cover it and allow the batter to rest for 20 minutes or till suji swells completely.
  • After 20 minutes, suji will absorb much of the water and will become very soft.
  • Now add chopped onion, capsicum, green chillies, coriander leaves, and grated carrot.
  • Mix very well and add the remaining 1/4 cup water.
  • Next, add 2 tbsp water again and mix very well.
  • Mix well and add water if required to get slightly medium thick flowing consistency batter.
  • The batter for making cheelas is now ready.

making suji cheela :

  • Heat a non-stick pan or tawa. Drizzle some oil over the tawa and spread it evenly with a spoon.
  • Keep the flame to low and take a ladle of the batter and gently spread the batter on the pan to make small to medium chillas.
  • Just spread evenly into circular motion, keeping it little thick. Don’t try to spread too much as the chillas will break.
  • Cook the cheela for 2-3 minutes on low to medium flame.
  • When the top of the suji cheela looks cooked, then sprinkle some oil on the sides. With the spoon itself, spread the oil all over.
  • Check later, when the cheela turns brown from beneath, flip the side.
  • Let it roast from the other side as well until it gets golden brown spots.
  • When the second side gets light golden, then remove the suji cheela and stack it up on a plate or casserole.
  • Serve suji ka cheela hot or warm with green chutney or any chutney or sauce of your choice.

Notes

  • Add vegetables of your choice like corn, cabbage to make it more nutritious.
  • Make sure to soak the rava at least for 20 minutes, else rava chilla will not taste good.
  • Use more curd to enhance the flavor of instant chilla recipe.
  • Serve suji ka cheela hot or pack to your lunch box.
