BREAD BITES RECIPE

Bread bites ate one of the quickest of the quick appetizers. In no time, your crispy vegetable bites are ready. This is also loved by kids.

Ingredients

for stuffing :

  • 1 medium size potato boiled, peeled & mashed
  • 4 tbsp onion finely chopped
  • 3 tbsp carrot finely chopped
  • 3 tbsp capsicum finely chopped
  • 2 green chili chopped
  • 3 tbsp coriander leaves finely chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tbsp chat masala
  • 2 tbsp tomato ketchup
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tsp oil

other ingredients :

  • 2 white bread slices
  • 1/4 cup all purpose flour / maida
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • Oil for deep frying
  • water as per requirement

Instructions

preparing the stuffing :

  • Collect all the required ingredients.
  • Heat the oil in a non-stick pan on medium flame.
  • Add chopped onion and saute for a minute.
  • Then add green chili and fry them for few seconds.
  • Add carrot and capsicum.
  • Stir fry for one or two minutes. Don’t cook too much. The vegetables should have a slight crunch.
  • Lower the flame and add salt, red chili powder, chat masala and tomato ketchup.
  • Stir every thing well until they are well are combined and fry just for a minute.
  • Now add mashed potatoes.
  • Mix it very well.
  • Lastly, add coriander leaves and lemon juice.
  • Again mix it well.
  • Stuffing is ready. Switch off the flame and keep it aside

other preparations :

  • Prepare the maida paste by mixing maida and water.
  • Make a fine paste slurry and the paste should not be too runny not too thick. It should be of the right consistency to coat the bites.
  • Transfer the bread crumbs into a plate. Keep aside.

making bread bites :

  • Take a bread slice and trim the edges. You can use bread sides to prepare breadcrumbs.
  • With the help of rolling pin, roll the bread thinly without applying much pressure.
  • Prepare the second bread of slice like this.
  • Then place the prepared stuffing over one of the bread slice. The stuffing should be on the higher side so make a thick layer.
  • Cover on top with the slice of bread and press it gently.
  • Using a pizza cutter or knife, cut the bread slice into pieces to make bites. You can make four pieces, six pieces or as much you want. Here I have made nine pieces.
  • Bread bites is ready.
  • Now assemble bread bites, maida paste and breadcrumbs.
  • Take one piece to dip the bites into the maida batter to coat them well.
  • Immediately place it on the breadcrumbs to mix well so that the breadcrumbs form a nice layer around the bread bite.
  • Make all the bread bites seasoned this way and this makes them ready to fry. Coat all the bites with bread crumbs properly so that they don’t come out while frying.

frying the bread bites :

  • Place a frying pan and pour the oil to fry the bites. Heat the oil medium hot.
  • Add these bites one by one into the pan and fry them with low medium flame. Do not overload the pan.
  • Deep-fry for two to three minutes on low medium heat, or until crisp and golden brown, turning occasionally.
  • Drain on paper towel and repeat the procedure to fry one more batch.
  • Serve these bread bites hot with tomato ketchup and green chutney.
