leftover dry black chana
onion thinly sliced
mato thinly sliced
black pepper powder
mozarella cheese grated
butter or as required
Collect all the required ingredients.
Spread the butter lightly on all the bread slices. Trim the edges of bread if you want.
I have used leftover dry kala chana of previous day for this sandwich. Just ensure the kala chana masala is dry or semi dry else the sandwiches may become soggy.
Place some kala chana masala on one side of the bread slice.
Spread the chana with the back of a spoon on the bread.
Top with 2-3 slices each of onion, and tomato.
Sprinkle with a pinch or two of chat masala, black pepper powder and black salt as required.
Spread some grated mozzarella cheese.
Cover with another buttered slice of bread.
Similarly, make the other sandwich.
Place the chana sandwich in a sandwich maker or grill maker.
Toast for 2-3 minutes till browned all over or even more if you want your sandwich to be more crisp and crunchy.
Gently remove the toasted/grilled chana sandwiches on the serving plate.
Cut along the dent with a pizza cutter or sharp knife.
Serve the chana masala toast sandwiches hot with green chutney or tomato sauce.
I have here used whole wheat bread but you can use multi grain bread, white bread or brown bread.
You can also make this chana masala sandwich on a tawa on stove top.
